Vitamin D3 and lyme

Dear Stephen,
In your opinion if I have lyme disease should I be taking vitamin D3? I am taking no other medications besides teasel root, lapacho and other herbs. I have developed grinding knees, is this related to silica deficiency?

Stephen’s response:
Some people think that people with lyme should not use D3, I am not in that camp and I do like the supplement myself. Given the controversy it pretty much has to remain a personal decision after looking at the data that is out there. I am unsure about the grinding knees – not enough information – but would highly suggest the use of glucosamine sulphate which can often help that condition.
